All  Scholarships will be awarded on Baccalaureate Sunday - June  21.

The Deacons are offering three scholarships for college students who are members of Oneida First Presbyterian Church.

The Helen McKay Deacon Scholarship:

The Helen McKay Deacon Scholarship was established to provide monetary funds to help further the college education of Oneida First Presbyterian Church Members who are graduating High School and/or continuing their undergraduate studies. Scholarships are distributed on Baccalaureate Sunday (June).

This is offered to college students that are graduating high school seniors or returning college students.  The application will be available beginning Sunday, MAY 10, in the Scholarship Mailbox in the boardroom.  Completed applications MUST be submitted to the Deacon’s Mailbox by Sunday, May 31.  There will be multiple monetary scholarships based on criteria outlined in the application.

 

The Faye Bell Scholarship: 

This $1000 Scholarship is for an adult congregation member who seeks to make a change in a career which would involve more education.  To apply please write a short essay as to why, how, when and where this scholarship would be used to obtain new life goals.  The essay MUST be submitted to the Deacon’s Mailbox by Sunday, May 31.

 The Kara Sweet Gobron Scholarship: 

This $1000 scholarship in memory of Kara Sweet Gobron, Valedictorian of the Oneida High School Class of 1989, will be presented to the graduating high school senior with the highest grade point average.

Overview of the Application: 

  1.  Applicants must complete all Application Materials:
     
  2. Applicants must be members of the Oneida First Presbyterian Church for at least one year prior to the time of application.
     
  3. Applicants must be a graduating senior from high school or a currently enrolled student in an accredited undergraduate program.
     
  4. Must have established and maintained a satisfactory academic record (Minimum 2.0 GPA)
     
  5. Applicants must submit all required documentation (listed above), thoroughly completed, by the required deadline.
     
  6. Scholarship recipients are responsible for notifying the OFPC Scholarship Committee immediately if changes affecting information in the application occur prior to beginning the academic year.
     
  7. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the awardees.
     
  8. Applicants must enroll and remain in a school of higher learning for the entire quarter/semester  the scholarship covers.
     
  9. All information in the application will be maintained as personal and confidential.

40% Church Involvement / Participation

20% Scholastic Ability

20% Extracurricular/Volunteer Activities & Employment

10% Essay (clarity, coherence, grammar, content)

10% Other (may be financial need or exceptional circumstances)
